Privacy Policy

Mealody helps households decide what to cook together. We collect the minimum information needed to make that work, and nothing more.

What we collect

Phone number and name — your account identity. Login uses a one-time password sent to you on WhatsApp; we store only a cryptographic hash of the OTP.
Household ("circle") details you add — member names, roles (e.g. cook), dietary preference tags (e.g. diabetic-friendly, fasting), preferred language, and optionally a member's phone number if you invite them.
Meal activity — dishes you add, polls, votes, poll chat messages, and your household's meal history (used for the dashboard, streaks and suggestions).
Technical data — crash reports and basic usage diagnostics so we can fix problems.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos (unless you add a dish photo), payment details, or precise health data. Dietary tags are simple labels, not medical records.

How we use it

To run the product: suggestions, polls, dashboards and reminders.
To send WhatsApp messages you've asked for: login codes, circle invites, poll notifications, and the decided meal to your household's cook in their chosen language (via the WhatsApp Business API).
To keep the service reliable and secure (logs, crash reports).

What we never do

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
We do not show ads.
We do not use your data to train AI models.

Sharing

Members of your circle can see what you share there (names, dietary tags, votes, chat). We use service providers to operate Mealody — cloud hosting, WhatsApp Business API delivery, and crash reporting — who process data only on our instructions. We may disclose information if required by law.

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account any time from Profile → Delete account in the app, or by emailing support@mealody.in from any device — deletion removes your account and personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Login codes are stored only as hashes. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.

Children

Mealody accounts are for users 13 and older. Family members below 13 may appear in a circle only as names/preferences added by an adult account holder.
